Rainbow Airschool.com is based at the Ladysmith Airfield near the Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal, the Circus Airfield near Johannesburg, and the Vereeniging Airfield in Midvaal. The flying school specialises in Light Sports Fixed Wing and Microlight Training, and is CAA and RAASA Accredited.
The flying school offers part time and full time licences in Weight Shift Microlight / Ultralight; Light Sports Aircraft up to 600 kg, and Conventionally Controlled Microlight / Ultralight. Instructor Courses include L.S.A and Weight Shift.
Microlight Licence Requirements:
- Older than 16 years (must be 17 years to go Solo).
- Class 4 Medical.
- Flight and Navigation Test.
- A good command of the English Language.
- Restricted Radio Licence.
- 25 Hours (minimum) Total Flying, of which 15 hours must be Solo.
- 6 Theory Exams – Human Performance Limitations / Principles of Flight / Air Law / Engines and Airframes / Navigation / Meteorology.
