Stellenbosch Flying Club is located in one of the most beautiful surroundings in the world, in the Western Cape Winelands. It is a traditional Flying Club with flight training facilities that are accredited by the South African Civil Aviation Authority. The Airfield is situated just outside the control zone of Cape Town International Airport, but students will be exposed to major airport interaction when necessary.

The Stellenbosch Flying Club is located in the Western Cape, and is a CAA accredited PPL training centre that offers a range of flight training courses. Contact the flying school and book an Introductory Flight with an instructor, and get the feeling of this exciting way of life.

PPL Training requirements:

• Student must be at least 16 years of age to fly solo.
• Be at least 17 years of age to obtain a PPL.
• Restricted Radiotelephony Licence within 3 months of Student Licence.
• 45 Hours total flying time.
• Including 5 hours Instrument Flying.
• Including – 15 hours solo flying.
• 5 hours solo cross country flying.
• Flight test with Grade I or Grade II instructor.
• Mandatory lectures provided for all students (Ground School).

Stellenbosch Flying Club specialises in Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training courses. The Club is accredited by the CAA for the following courses that include the PPL and CPL courses, and a Radio License course, Multi-Engine Rating, Night Rating, Safety Rating, Instrument Rating, Instructors Rating and Aircraft Type Rating.

CPL Training Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age.
• General Radio Licence.
• Total flying time of 200 hours.
• Including – 100 hours as Pilot in Command.
• 20 Hours cross country flying.
• 1 x day 300nm cross country flight with at least 2 landings.
• 1 x night 150 nm triangular cross country flight plus 10 hours Night Flying.
• Theoretical Exams by CAA (8 subjects).
• Flight test with a Designated Examiner.
• Class I medical examination.
• 20 Hours Instrument Training.
