Base 4 Flight Acadamy is based at the Cape Town International Airport in the Western Cape, and is an Aviation Training School accredited by the CAA, that offers training courses in helicopter licences, as well as specialist training that include Game Capturing Courses and Sling Ratings.
Specialist Courses:
- Game Capture Rating – must hold a Helicopter Commercial Pilot Licence, and 100 hours of flight time as pilot-in-command; 5 hours flight time of game operations under the supervision of a Grade I or Grade II Flight Instructor.
- Sling Rating - rappelling, towing and the lifting and laying down of external cargo while being fixed to or disassembled from a surface during the helicopter operation; must hold at least a Helicopter Commercial Pilot Licence, 250 hours of flight time as pilot-in-command, 5 hours flight time of sling load operations undertaken with a Grade I or Grade II Flight Instructor.
- Night Rating – 10 hours instrument instruction and 5 hours actual night flying; allows you to fly in the dark but not under instrument conditions like bad weather or in clouds.
- Instrument Rating – 40 hours of Instrument Flight Training under instruction.

Flight School Courses:

Johannesburg School of Flying is based at the Rand Airport in Germiston, Gauteng, and offers ab initio training to Private Pilot Licence, as well as Commercial Pilot Licence training, night rating, instructors rating, instrument rating, and single and twin conversions.
