AV8 Helicopters is based at the East London Airport which is in controlled airspace, and caters for both scheduled and unscheduled traffic. HELI is based at the Cape Town International Airport, and specialises in helicopter and fixed wing training and charter services. Training at the flying school include the SPL, PPL and CPL as well as Night Rating, Instrument Rating, Instructors Rating and Turbine rating.
Helicopter Fleet:
- Robinson 22 Beta II – light, two-seater, single-piston engine helicopter, extremely versatile, student pilots will undergo most of their initial training on this helicopter.
- Robinson 44 – 4-seater, single-engine helicopter, more difficult to operate than R22, for more advanced training.
- Bell 206 Jetranger – 4-seater, combining economy, performance and comfort, used by students for their conversion to Turbine.
- Bell Longranger – 6-seater, ideal for both corporate and leisure.
- Eurocopter EC120B – ultra modern 5 seater light turbine helicopter.
