Cape Town Flying Club offers formal training with highly qualified instructors at the Cape Town International Airport, where the Club is based. Formal training options include SPL, PPL, CPL Licences, Night Rating, Instrument Rating and Instructors Rating.
Pilot Training:
- SPL (Student Pilot’s License) – enables student to fly alone, with the approval of an instructor.
- PPL (Private Pilot’s License) – to obtain your PPL you must fly a minimum of 45 hours, and will be required to pass exams on 8 subjects during the course of his training.
- CPL (Commercial Pilot’s License) – the first step in turning a hobby into a potential career, the holder may fly for a reward.

Flying School Johannesburg is an on-site Flying School based at Tedderfield Air Park, which is located about 15 km south of Johannesburg. The flying school offers a range of training courses and licences such as the PPL, CPL, National Pilot Licences and Light Sport Aircraft courses. Training aircraft include a Rapid sabre, Vp retractable and more.
Flight Training Courses:

Superior Pilot Services offers a variety of flight training courses, including Private Pilots Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, and Airline Transport Pilots Licence. Courses are flexible to meet each student’s individual needs, and are divided into 3 categories – Basic Training, Advanced Training, and Ground School Training.
Ground School Courses:
- Radio Licence Certification – Restricted & General Radio Licence Certification.
- PPL Ground school classes – Airlaw, Principles of Flight, Human Performance and limitations, Meteorology, Engines and Airframes (Aircraft technical and general), Flight Planning and performance, Navigation General and Plotting.
